Motorola Q9c Phone (Verizon Wireless, Phone Only, No Service) Reviews
5 of 5 people found the following review helpful Good device, Verizon makes life harder., By This review is from: Motorola Q9c Phone (Verizon Wireless, Phone Only, No Service) (Wireless Phone Accessory) Be warned: on any of their Pda/Smartphone type device, Verizon has no GetitNow, no Mobile Web, and many apps available for regular phones are off limits. On my previous Verizon phone, I could get a 24-hour sub to VZ Navigator when I needed it (which amounted to roughly 4 times in a year). Having the GPS for $3 when I needed it was awesome. When you upgrade to a PDA, Verizon does not tell you that the only way to get the VZ Navigator working is the monthly sub. And you'd have to call customer support, and have it added. GPS on this device is locked to VZ Navigator. It actually makes more sense getting a GPS Bluetooth receiver, like Garmin 10. Why did I switch to it and why did I not get a phone like the Voyager? Because Contact list where all you have are 5 phones and 2 emails is a joke. The main reason I upgraded was because after checking it out at a Verizon store, the salesperson showed me HIS Q9C and how it worked with Google Maps and Windows Live Maps. After using it for a couple of weeks and researching this to death, they lock the GPS functionality unless you subscribe to Verizon Navigator for an extra $10 per month. Not what I saw with my own eyes and not what I understood when I bought it. The GPS functionality of the phone should work with whatever application I can run on the phone.Without that functionality it is of no more value than the original Q. The new Windows Mobile 6.x OS adds nothing. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful the phone is nice, but verizon disabled gps on it, By Sam S "Sam" (Needham MA) - See all my reviews This review is from: Motorola Q9c Phone (Verizon Wireless, Phone Only, No Service) (Wireless Phone Accessory) this is windows based mobile phone with windows media player , planner, desktop sync software, pdf file viewer. the battery is not greatest - last 1 day or so but for functionity phone offers it is great. the huge issue with the phone is gps functionality disabled (google maps, yahoo maps does not work with gps). the only way to use gps is to buy verizon navigator software. |
